Here’s a little tip from Frugal Fictionabout reading the car ads. Yep, the car ads. Most of us avoid them until we’re forced to don battle gear and fight the legions of sales levels standing between us and wheels.
We recently scored two free tickets to Martina McBride just for visiting a dealer. Chevy sponsors her, as Ford does Toby Keith, and Toyota does Brooks & Dunn. Sorry, I’m a country fan – I’m guessing this isn’t unique though.
So, prepared for minor battle, we entered with ad in hand. And, guess what? No pressure, no fill- out paperwork, no take a test drive. The key? Be firm & get there when the ad first hits – ie. before they can tell you all the tickets are gone.
Other dealer scores we’ve made? Free dinners, an iPod, Walmart gift cards. Look at it as retribution for what they put you thru during your last purchase.
